Zinc Chloride, Granular, Reagent, ACS, is a colorless and hygroscopic chemical compound that is commonly used in the textile industry, as a metallurgical flux and in organic synthesis. It has the ability to dissolve starch and cellulose, as well as silk, and can be applied to fabric as a fireproofing agent. It the laboratory, it is used for its properties as a middle strength Lewis acid.
