Sodium Borate, Decahydrate, Crystal, Reagent, ACS is also known simply as Borax and is a mineral that occurs naturally in deposits of the mineral Evaporite. Its uses vary from household products, such as hand soap and water softening agents, to use as a flux in welding and can also be found in small scale gold mining operations as a substitute to mercury. As an ACS grade Reagent, ScienceLab compound is used as the quality standard against which other substances are grade and has met the toughest regulatory standards for quality and pureness.
