Methanol, Absolute, Reagent, ACS, is also called methyl alcohol or 'wood alcohol' it was one of the by products of distillation of wood. As the simplest alcohol around, it is light, flammable, colorless liquid with a strong and distinctive odor. It has many uses including acting as an antifreeze, (due to it's polar liquid properties), solvent, fuel as well as a denaturant for ethanol.
