Mannitol, Reagent, ACS, otherwise known as Mannite, is classified as a sugar alcohol and is most commonly observed in it's white crystalline solid form. It has several uses, ranging from inducing osmotic stress in plants to being used to produce tablets of medicine. It can also be added to boric acid to increase the strength of the acid in order to allow for a better degree of accuracy in volumetric analysis of the acid. As an ACS grade Reagent, ScienceLab mannitol is used as the quality standard against which other substances are graded and has met the toughest regulatory standards for quality and pureness.
