Ethyl Acetate, Reagent, ACS, is a colorless liquid that smells like pear drops. Abbreviated as EA, it can be found in glues, nail polish removers, cigarettes and other products. Primarily used as a diluent because of its low cost and toxicity, it is also used in laboratory settings for column chromatography and extractions. Prone to hydrolysis and transesterification, it is rarely used as a solvent. As an ACS grade Reagent, ScienceLab Ethyl Acetate is used as the quality standard against which other substances are graded and has met the toughest regulatory standards for quality and pureness.
