Aluminum Chloride, Hexahydrate, Crystal, Reagent, in its pure form is a white and granular solid. Often cited as a Lewis acid this inorganic compound is a good example of a compound that cracks at mild temperature, reversing from a polymer to a monomer. It is often used as a component of antiperspirant in low doses. It can also be used as a catalyst in the ene reaction or as a polymerization in the reactions of hydrocarbons. Its reagent grade means this is the highest quality commercially available for this chemical and that the American Chemical Society has not officially set any specifications for this material.
