Cuprizone is used in the quantitative spectroscopic determination of copper as well as for the experimental study of mitochondrial metabolism. Cuprizone is known to be a neurotoxic agent. Cuprizone can be used to study the pathobiology of remyelination in corpus callosum. Cuprizone can also be used as a model to study components of neuroinflammation.
