Tannic acid is a specific form of tannin, a type of polyphenol. Tannic acid is usually extracted from: Tara pods (Caesalpinia spinosa), gallnuts from Rhus semialata or Quercus infectoria or Sicilian sumac leaves (Rhus coriaria).  It is an inhibitor of NOS3 and a weak inhibitor of NOS2 and NOS1.  Laboratory Grade products supplied by ScienceLab are indicative of a grade suitable for general industrial use or research purposes and typically are not suitable for human consumption or therapeutic use.
