Mercurous Nitrate, Dihydrate, Crystal, Reagent is also known as mercury nitrate, and is used in the preparation of other mercury compounds. This chemical compound, like all mercury compounds, is highly toxic. It has a white crystalline appearance, is noncombustible but will accelerate combustion due to its oxidizing properties. Its reagent grade means this is the highest quality commercially available for this chemical and that the American Chemical Society has not officially set any specifications for this material.
