Ammonium Dichromate, Crystal, Reagent, also known as Vesuvian Fire because of its use in demonstrations of tabletop volcanoes. It is used in the laboratory as a catalyst, in pyrotechnics and as a mordant for dyeing pigments. The Reagent grade denotes that this chemical is the highest quality commercially available and that the American Chemical Society has not officially set any specifications for this material.
